IS IN STEP WITH BUSINESS
Clark College Corporate Education enters the new academic year
with a new management team in place to serve the business community
VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Clark College Corporate Education Department has entered the new academic year with a dynamic management team in place.
The team will expand on the accomplishments of the 2005-2006 year. During that time, the department provided customized training for 32 businesses, entered into 70 training contracts, trained 1,320 employees (up 19.5% from the previous year) and did direct marketing to 9,000 businesses in the Vancouver/Portland metropolitan area. Through Professional Development, the department offered 146 classes and seminars with an enrollment of 2,873 (up 44.1% from the previous year).
Executive Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education Lisa Edwards noted, “We’re working hard to offer new training and secure new funding to help train the workers that our local businesses need. We’ve offered new programs in leadership and management including a new, customizable management certificate program and Franklin Covey seminars and workshops.”
She added, “Within the next two years, Corporate Education will become a comprehensive resource center for the business community. We’ll provide a wide range of services including high-quality custom and open enrollment training programs, a Small Business Development Center, and state-of-the-art meeting rooms and conference space. In everything we do, we’re committed to proving that we are in step with business.”
Director of Corporate Education Todd Oldham
Director of Corporate Education Todd Oldham is a corporate learning and business development professional with experience in both the private sector and higher education.
His business development career has included both outside and inside sales positions where he called upon senior executives representing products and services for both Fortune 500 and small- to medium-sized businesses. Oldham’s industry experience includes the computer and lease finance industries.
In 2001, Oldham became a program manager for a multi-campus university managing technology and leadership programs targeted to adult and corporate audiences.
Oldham, who joined Clark College in 2005, was drawn to the college’s corporate education department because it represented “a new vision for corporate learning and training, something different from what I had previously seen delivered from within an institution of higher education. I appreciate Clark’s big picture approach to serving the local business community by building the department’s strategy on the natural synergy that exists between business, education and technology. I believe we are among the vanguard institutions in working with and developing this type of corporate education model.”
Todd Oldham, who resides in Vancouver, earned his M.B.A. from Chapman University and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in history and anthropology from UCLA.

Representing Clark College and the Customized Training division of Corporate Education allows me to enrich the quality of life for individuals, organizations and our community.”
Barrows graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business with honors from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
