History on display

1940s wooden replica of Clark's penguin mascot Oswald
Throughout the yearlong celebration, Clark's Cannell Library was the home to a display case of historic college items and memorabilia.

To launch the celebration in October 2008, the focus was on the 1930s. The items on display included the diploma that was presented to the college's first (and only) graduate in 1934, an issue of the 1936 Galapagon yearbook, and a 1939-40 wooden replica of the original Oswald, believed to be the only one still in existence.

In the following months, the library was the home to displays highlighting Clark history during the 1940s (November), 1950s (December), 1960s (January), 1970s (February), 1980s (March), 1990s (April) and 2000s (May).

The college community extends its thanks to the Cannell Library staff for hosting the historic display case throughout the anniversary year -- allowing Clark College to truly preserve the past, honor the present and embrace the future.
