All financial aid recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Have a valid Social Security number and be a citizen of the United States or an eligible non-citizen.
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate or demonstrate the ability to benefit. Ability to benefit is based on compass test scores in reading, writing and math. To schedule an appointment for placement testing, contact the Testing Center.
- Enroll in a program of study that leads to an eligible degree or certificate. Students must declare their program of study at the time of registration.
- Enrolled in an eligible credit load: Full-time, at least 12 credits; Three-quarter-time, 9 to 11 credits; or Half-time, 6 to 8 credits. Students enrolled in Less-than-half-time, 1 to 5 credit,s may be eligible for specific grant programs and are not eligible to receive student loans or work study.
- Males, 18 years or older, born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with Selective Services if not currently active in the armed forces.
- Must have a passing score on the SLEP (Second Level English Placement) test to qualify for funding of ENL classes. Financial Aid is limited to a maximum of 45 credits for DVED, HDEV, and ENL credits .
- Not owe a grant repayment or have made satisfactory arrangements to repay a grant. Not be in default on any loan or reached aggregate loan borrowing limits .
- Demonstrate satisfactory academic progressby successfully completing the number of credits enrolled in each quarter, maintaining a quarterly GPA of 2.0 or better and making satisfactory progress toward a degree. This is a requirement even if a student has not received financial aid in the past .
- Not be receiving financial aid at another institution during the same period of enrollment.
- Running Start students are not eligible for financial aid.
- Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes cannot be funded with financial aid resources.
- Students who have a Bachelor's degree will be considered for the Federal Stafford Loan and/or Work Study awards only.
- Does not have a conviction for any offense under federal or state law involving possession or sale of a controlled substance while receiving financial aid.
