Adult Basic Education / GED Preparation Classes

Beginning summer quarter 2015 you will see most ABE and GED classes listed as CAP—Career and Academic Preparation on the schedule of classes and in the catalog. The change to CAP coursework is one of the many efforts in place to support the successful completion of a high school diploma, GED credential, and/or transition into college level coursework or the world of work.

CAP classes are different than ABE and GED classes because they are graded, visual on your Clark College transcript, integrated with a number of subjects, and contextualized to make what you are learning in the classroom more real to your life.

CAP classes are similar to ABE and GED classes in that they are still the same low cost, $25.00 a quarter with no requirement to buy books. In addition, there are still many scheduling options to meet your needs—classes are offered morning, afternoon, and evening. When you show up to your CAP classes you will also find that your same teachers will be in front of the room instructing your work.

Regardless of your goal, CAP classes are the right fit. The new format and subjects of the classes allow you to gain credits toward a high school diploma and better prepare you to successfully take the GED exam.

Students may begin the enrollment process at the Admissions Office located in Gaiser Hall, Room 128.  ABE/GED students will be charged $25.00 tuition per quarter for any and all classes taken in Basic skills (ABE/GED, CAP, or ESL).
