I just registered for my first eLearning class, now what?

Does my class use Moodle?
All eLearning courses, EXCEPT telecourses, use Moodle. Many face-to-face courses are Web Enhanced and also use Moodle.

Where do I log into my class?

Simply click the Moodle icon on the upper right hand side of any eLearning page.  You can also find a link to Moodle in the Quick Links section of the main Clark College site.  You may want to bookmark the Moodle login page for easy access throughout the term.

How do I determine my username and password for Moodle?
When do I need to log into my eLearning class?

The first day of the term is considered your first day of class.  You must log into your course that day to avoid being dropped from the course. Although instructors have until noon to make your class available to you it is a good idea to log in as early as possible just in case you run into any difficulties.  The eLearning is open until 4:30 PM to assist you. If for any reason you will not be able to log into your class on the first day of the term, contact your instructor in advance for guidance. 

Do I need to log into my Hybrid class on the first day of the term?
Although Hybrid classes have regular class meeting times there will often be work that needs to be done prior to the first face-to-face meeting. You still need to log into your class on the first day of the term to determine if this is the case.  If you do not, your instructor may drop you from the class.

I'm registered but I can't log into Moodle. What do I do?
There are several different possibilities for why you cannot login.  Please visit the eLearning Tech Support page for detailed information.

When I log into Moodle not all of my classes are there. Why?

A couple of different things may be happening:

  • Classes may not be available until noon on the first day of the term.  Check back after noon.  If you still cannot see you class after noon contact the eLearning department and send your instructor an email.
  • If you just registered for the class there is a 12-24 hour delay before you can access it. Registration data is updated in Moodle on weekdays, at 10:00AM and 4:00PM. Check back after these times.
  • After the 10th day of the term we need to put you into the class manually.  Please contact the eLearning department. 
How do I contact my instructor?

Many eLearning instructors do not have on-campus offices. Typically, the best way to contact an eLearning instructor is via email.  Instructor emails are their first initial and their full last name at(@)clark.edu. i.e. jdoe@clark.edu.

Do I need textbooks for my class?
It depends on the course; if you do, textbooks and any other course materials can be purchased in person or online at the Clark College Bookstore. Books are listed by department and item number.

What do I do if I forgot my Moodle password?

Click the Forgotten Password link on the Moodle login page.  For instructions, see eLearning Tech Support.

How do I change my email in Moodle?

The email field in Moodle is locked down so you cannot change it.  All emails through Moodle will go to your student email account.

Does my class have an orientation?

If your class has an orientation it will be listed in the quarterly schedule

Do I have to log in every day?
The amount of class participation varies from class to class. Log into your class the first day of the quarter to find and review the course syllabus and any other class orientation materials listed on the site carefully.
