Clark College Athletics to honor Hall of Fame inductees on February 20
VANCOUVER, Wash.— On Saturday, February 20, the Athletics Department at Clark College, will hold the annual Clark College Athletics Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony at 6 p.m. in the Penguin Union Building. The banquet and ceremony will take place after the women’s and men’s basketball games that day, which start at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively. The inductees will also be introduced during halftime of the men’s game.
This year’s honorees include:
- Gary Boggs (Track & Field) helped secure WSJCAC (now NWAC) Track Championships in 1960 and 1961, and was selected as Outstanding Athlete in 1961. He went on to Lewis & Clark College where he as an All-American athlete in football, wrestling and track. His career led him to Fort Vancouver High School, where he served as the Head Football Coach from 1967-2001 and had five league championships. Boggs passed away in 2011. His family will be accepting the award in his honor.
- Bryony (Chase) Melcher (Women’s Basketball) led her team to 51 wins during her two seasons at Clark College. In 2000, the team was the West Region Champion. In 2001, Melcher was the West Region MVP, NWAACC (now NWAC) Player of the Year, and Clark College Female Athlete of the Year.
- Steve Hook (Men’s Basketball) was named second team All League during his first season at Clark College, with a 20-9 record. In his second season, he was named a first team All- League performer and 2nd Team All-Tournament with a 21-8 record.
- The 2007 Men’s Soccer Team were NWAACC Champions, as well as South Region Champions with a remarkable 12-1-3 season finish.
