A dedicated community servant renews his commitment
to education in Southwest Washington

Jack Burkman

Vancouver City Councilmember Jack Burkman is reappointed
to the
Clark College Board of Trustees

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Jack Burkman, who has been an active member of the Southwest Washington community for almost three decades, was recently reappointed to the Clark College Board of Trustees by Gov. Jay Inslee. His five-year term will begin Oct. 1, 2013. This will be Burkman’s second term on the board; his first began in 2008.

“I am happy to see Jack Burkman reappointed to the Board,” said Clark College President Robert K. Knight. “He has been a valuable member of the board for the past five years. I look forward to working with him for the next five years. He stays engaged with the college and supports the college in many ways, including serving on committees, attending events and being an active presence on campus.”

“Serving on the Clark College board is an amazing chance to help shape educational opportunities for people of all ages in our community,” said Burkman. “Time after time I hear stories of how Clark College helped someone fundamentally change their life for the better and in ways they never knew they were capable of doing. Clark College helps people succeed and I’m honored to play a part in that.”

Burkman added that he was excited to be part of new initiatives to expand Clark’s services, including a new satellite location offering classes to the communities of the Columbia River Gorge; a soon-to-be-built facility on Clark’s main campus for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; and a new campus in north/central Clark County. “I look forward to seeing Clark grow and change, to continually improve in our ability to meet our students’ needs,” he said. “Our work really is all about the student.”
