Washington’s Libraries:
A “Snapshot” of Our Lives

VANCOUVER, Wash. – On any day, at any moment, a library provides a snapshot of what people find important, interesting and intriguing.  That will be especially true on Tuesday, April 12, when libraries across the state participate in “Snapshot:  One Day in the Life of Washington Libraries.”

Clark College’s Cannell Library and the Information Commons at Clark College Columbia Tech Center will be among the participants in the statewide project.  Throughout the day, organizers will collect stories, statistics and photographs to illustrate how Washingtonians are utilizing their libraries that day.  More important, organizers say, the event will demonstrate the importance of libraries to – and for – Washington’s citizens.

In partnership with libraries across the state, the Cannell Library will post photos, stories and statistics on its website:  http://www.clark.edu/Library/.

Clark College Director of Library Services & eLearning Michelle Bagley emphasized the importance of libraries for Washington’s citizens, students, and professionals. “I hope people across Washington visit their libraries on April 12,” she said.  “Library Snapshot Day provides an opportunity to show our leaders and lawmakers what kind of results academic libraries deliver to our students, faculty, staff, and communities.”

More than 30 other states have already had successful Library Snapshot Days.  “Snapshot:  One Day in the Life of Washington Libraries” is part of a broader effort organized by the American Library Association.

The Cannell Library is located on Clark’s main campus at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver.  Driving directions and parking maps are available at www.clark.edu/maps

During the academic year, the library is open Mondays through Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
