On June 3, through words and music,
Clark College will celebrate the difference
that one person can make by volunteering.

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The message is simple and heartfelt: helping others will amaze you.

On Friday, June 3, the college will host “Volunteering beyond Our Borders.”  The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Foster Auditorium on Clark’s main campus. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. Presentations will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Clark College is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver.  Driving directions and parking maps are available at www.clark.edu/maps.

Guest speaker Rico Selga will share his experiences as a medical volunteer in countries such as Kosovo, Liberia and Haiti. Selga, who received Clark’s 2010 Outstanding Alumni Award, hopes to motivate students and members of the community to volunteer – whether regionally, nationally or internationally.

The event will also include a performance by Parfait, a native of the Benin Republic who now lives in the Vancouver-Portland area.  Parfait uses music to raise awareness and encourage empowerment and social activism.

The event is sponsored by the Clark College French Club, Student Life and Multicultural Affairs, and the college’s world languages and history departments.
