Reaching for their Dreams

"Every single class that I took, every single interaction I had with someone from Financial Aid, to where I worked at Security, to the music program with Chuck Ramsey, those relationships basically extended my network of people that I knew. And so, from the beginning in 1987 to the time I graduated two years ago, it was those relationships that helped me to finish the end goal, which was reaching for my dream and my goal.  Students that I help advocate for with the GEAR-UP program–I used the model of the relationships that were established here at Clark College to help me get my AA at the age of 40.  But I did eventually get it because people such as Kelly Benson helped to inspire me to come back. Don’t give up, Ed. Keep pushing for it. Keep reaching for that goal. You know you can do it. You have the potential; you can reach that goal."

"It was a great starting point (I was a very indecisive student) to kind of get guidance and not feel pressured.  I made so many connections with a lot of staff, and I worked on campus so I was able to get to know a lot of people and they were great."

"Clark College allows students to go to school and work at the same time.  They have night classes available for students that have to work.  They have online classes available.  With regard to the nursing program, they have a state-of-the-art lab that really prepares students, so when students are graduating from Clark, they are prepared to hit the floor and have a full patient load. Clark College has enriched the lives of many students and continues to do so through their wonderful programs and it’s very clear cut as far as acceptance is concerned. They accept all students, financial difficulties or not. There’s funding available through the Foundation for students who need financial assistance. Clark enhances the community daily by helping students achieve their goals."
