How many hours can I work?
All student workers (Institutional Hire, Work Study and Work First) may work a maximum amount of 17 hours per week and a total of 69 hours per month. The student employee and supervisor share the responsibility of monitoring work hours. Work Study and Work First students may not work more than their quarterly award amount and unused awards are not carried forward to future quarters. You may be subject to termination if you exceed these hours.
To determine the number of hours you can work during a quarter please use the following equation:

quaterly work study award divided by hourly pay rate = maximum hours per quarter

Breaks and Lunches
Employees are entitled to one ten minute paid break per 4 hour shift. If an employee works over 5 hours, that employee is required to take at least thirty minutes, unpaid, lunch break. If you work a 7 hour shift, or longer, you are entitled to a second ten minute paid break. Supervisors will reject timesheets that don’t have the correct hours reported.  This can delay payroll being processed in a timely manner.

How do I track hours worked?

You will keep daily record of hours worked by logging into the HCM Self-Service. Click on the Time tile and then Report Time. Timesheets are electronically submitted to your supervisor no later than the 15th and the last day of the month.

How do I get paid?

Payroll will now be issued to students on the 10th and 25th of each month.

Student employees will have the first paycheck mailed to the home address on file and future payroll will be paid by Direct Deposit.  The direct deposit forms will be included with your new hire paperwork (it can be picked up in the payroll department).

Please note: Off-campus employees are paid directly by their employer on the employer’s assigned payday.
