Clark College celebrates its services and Library Snapshot Day on April 17

VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Clark College Libraries (Cannell Library and the Information Commons at Columbia Tech Center) will be participating in “Snapshot: One Day in the Life of Washington Libraries” on April 17, 2013.  This state-wide project will illustrate the importance of libraries for Washington’s citizens through a collection of statistics, stories and photographs during National Library Week, April 14-20, 2013.

The Library Snapshot Day at Clark College invites students to share their stories about how they’ve been positively affected by using the libraries’ resources.  The event will also introduce newly created library posters, one each half hour, which feature success stories about college community members.  The stories and images collected from the day’s event will be shared through the Washington Library and Media Directors’ Council website, http://walibrarysnapshot.wikispaces.com, where everyone can see these powerful stories.

Michelle Bagley, dean of Clark College Libraries, emphasized the importance of libraries for Washington’s citizens, students, and professionals:  “I hope Washingtonians far and wide visit their libraries. Library Snapshot Day provides an opportunity to show our leaders and lawmakers what kind of results libraries deliver our communities.”

Library staff will be posting photos from the day on the libraries’ Twitter and Facebook pages.

More than 30 other states have already had successful Library Snapshot Days.  “Snapshot:  One Day in the Life of Washington Libraries” is a project of the Washington Library and Media Directors’ Council (LMDC), and of the American Library Association (ALA).

Cannell Library is located on Clark College’s main campus at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver.  The Information Commons at Columbia Tech Center is located at 18700 SE Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver.
