Starting Fall 2014, a new college - wide common reading program will be launched at Clark College. This First Year Experience (FYE) initiative, is aimed at new students, but will also be promoted throughout the campus. Across the nation, college - wide reading programs integrate one book and its themes into coursework, events and activities to build community via shared intellectual experiences.
The chosen text will be used for two academic years, and faculty will be encouraged to use the book in their coursework.
Timeline of the First Common Read:
Winter 2014: The college community reviews books and provides feedback by Friday, April 18. See below to participate in the selection process.
Early Spring 2014: Selection surveys will be reviewed, and a book will be chosen by May 15.
Spring & Summer 2014: Course and campus engagement activities based on the book will be planned.
