Long Term Disability Insurance

Clark College provides Basic long-term disability coverage to eligible employees at no cost to the employee. The Basic LTD Plan provides a benefit of 60% of the first $400 per month of Predisability Earnings, reduced by any Deductible Income. The maximum benefit payable is $240 per month. The minimum benefit is $50 per month. Benefits begin after 90 days of disability or after the period of sick leave for which you are eligible under the employer's sick leave plan, whichever is longer.

If you enroll in the optional plan within 31 days after you become eligible for benefits, Evidence of Insurability is not required. If you do not enroll during the first 31 days of eligibility for benefits, you must provide Evidence of Insurability and receive approval from Standard Insurance.

When combined with Basic benefits, the Optional Plan will pay 60% of the first $10,000 per month of your Predisability Earnings, reduced by any Deductible Income. The minimum combined benefit is $50 per month. The maximum benefit is $6,000. Optional Plan benefits begin after the end of the Benefit Waiting Period or the period of sick leave for which you qualify under the employer's sick leave, whichever is longer.

Monthly premiums for the Optional Plan are based on a percentage of your monthly salary. The rates vary with the length of your waiting period and on your retirement plan eligibility.
