Women's 2009 Softball Team
Head Coach Kasey Powers begins his third season as the head softball coach at Clark College after spending seven years as an assistant varsity coach at Skyview High School in Vancouver Washington.
Kasey began his softball-coaching career in 1997 as a volunteer assistant in La Grande Oregon, where he was introduced to the game of fastpitch softball. After spending three years as an assistant at La Grande, he moved back to Vancouver, Washington where he became an assistant coach under Dale Ogden, and helped build the Skyview program into a perennial state participant. From 2001-2006 the Storm enjoy six trips to state where they won the state title in 2001 and had a 4th place finish in 2002. During those six years, the program won or shared the league titles each year, as well as two-sub district and district titles each.
In 2003, Kasey joined with Alan Richards and Eric Leyba to expand the already highly successful Oregon Reign ASA program. That year Kasey helped start up a 16A team and coached the next six summers and falls with the Oregon Reign program. During that time, his teams qualified four times for nationals placing in the top 13 in 2004 and 2005 and compiled a 2002-96-6 record. After three years of coaching 16-18 year olds, Kasey spent the last 3 seasons with the Reign coaching 12-16 year olds learning a completely new aspect to coaching younger athletes and teaching them the basics of softball.
Kasey has former players that have or are playing at UCLA, Oregon State, Tennessee, Kentucky, George Washington, Towson, Western Oregon, Portland State, Eastern Oregon, Pacific Lutheran, Puget Sound, Oregon Institute of Technology.
