Distance running is an extremely popular in the Pacific Northwest, and recruiting talented athletes is the key ingredient to success in cross country in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) conference. 

Since 2004, Clark has fielded three trophy teams at the championship races.  The 2006 season was one of the most successful seasons in over a decade for the Penguins, with the men’s and women’s teams both finishing in the top three for the first time since 1993.
