Designed to provide high school choral groups with the finest in a local festival experience, the Clark College Fall Choral Festival will offer expert clinicians, creating an atmosphere of learning and promoting the choral arts. It is a non-competitive festival with a showcase concert Saturday evening. It is a unique opportunity to have both chamber/concert choirs and vocal jazz ensembles/show choirs/non-classical a cappella perform on the same day.

The morning (8 a.m.-12:20 p.m.) will be devoted to chamber and concert choirs. Each choir will have a 20 minute performance time (includes getting on and off stage) followed by a 20 minute clinic time. There will be three judges in the morning session; each judge will rotate between clinicing and writing comments. Two chamber/concert choirs will be selected to perform in the showcase Saturday evening.

The afternoon (1 - 5:40 p.m.) will be devoted to vocal jazz ensembles/show choirs/non-classical a cappella ensembles. Each ensemble will have a 20 minute performance time (includes getting on and off stage) followed by a 20 minute session to work on the choral/vocal aspects and than a 20 minute clinic time to work with the rhythm section aspects. There will be three judges in the afternoon session; each judge will rotate between clinicing the choral/vocal aspects and writing comments. Then each group will have 20 minutes with a clinician specializing in rhythm sections. This rhythm section clinician will only work with the ensembles and their rhythm sections and not have heard the group's performance. From the vocal jazz ensembles/show choirs/non-classical cappella ensembles a total of two groups will be selected to perform in the showcase Saturday evening.

To register open the form, complete the information, print the form and send it to April Duvic with your check or P.O. no later than October 5, 2012. Your performance time(s) will not be scheduled or confirmed until your check or P.O. is received. Registrations will be scheduled in the order in which they are received.

The entry fee is $180.00 for one group from a single high school or a total of $300.00 if a high school enters two groups. High schools wishing to bring more than two groups will pay $150.00 for any additional groups. Schools registering after Oct. 5 will have a late registration fee added of $50.00 per group.

The vision of the Clark College Choral Festival intends to meet three goals:
  1. To promote the ideals of choral music, both chamber choirs and vocal jazz ensembles, choral music education, and choral music performance to the Clark College community, the participating high schools, and the local community.
  2. To provide learning and motivational opportunities for all participating high school choral music students and their directors early in the school year and prior to the traditional festival season.
  3. To enhance the education of the students of Clark College by providing the opportunity to experience the administrative and organizational skills required to produce and event of this magnitude.
