Gene E. A. Johnson is Professor of Business Administration at Clark College. He joined the faculty of Clark College in January 1976. He is a graduate of Golden Gate University of San Francisco where he earned two Master’s degrees — an MBA and a Master’s in Accounting.
He also has a degree from Central Washington State in Economics as well as an Associates Degree from Everett Community College in Everett, Washington. He has done additional studies at the University of California, Chapman College in California and Portland State University. He is licensed as a Public Accountant by the State of Ohio. Professor Johnson specializes in Personal Finance, Retirement Planning, and Investments in addition to accounting and accounting education. Professor Johnson was recognized for his contribution to Distance Education by being awarded the Excellence In Teaching Award from the Washington Association of Occupational Educators (1999) and the Exceptional Faculty award from Clark College — its highest faculty honor (2004). He is proud to be the first Clark College faculty member who is teaching solely through Distance Learning in his full-time teaching load. Professor Johnson has been a United States Air Force officer, a computer center manager, taught in community and technical colleges in California and Ohio and served as the treasurer to two nonprofit organizations and served on two nonprofit boards. Professor Johnson enjoys sailing on the Columbia River. He has sailed from the mouth of the Columbia to Lewiston, Idaho, made numerous trips up and down Washington’s coast and sailed from Hawaii to Washington.
