May 1 is the first day that new Running Start students can sign-up online for a summer orientation, if you plan to pay for a summer quarter class. Please do not sign-up for a summer quarter orientation if you are planning to start in the fall. However, if you have already tested for fall entry, qualified, brought your qualifying scores to the Running Start office, and notified Peg Estes that you plan to attend in the summer, then on May 1 or later go to www.clark.edu/orientationcalendar and choose an orientation date for summer quarter. You will register for classes as part of the orientation. Allow approximately 3 hours for the orientation and bring photo ID.

ASCC is proud to present a comedy show by Amy Anderson!

Don‘t let the name fool you— Amy Anderson has been described as ’a skinny Margaret Cho“ and ’a heterosexual, Asian Ellen“. Amy would describe herself as ’a funny American girl who happened to be born in Korea and adopted by Swedish parents in suburban Minnesota“. Amy is a one-of-a-kind on the comedy scene and her act will remind you to never judge a book by its cover.

Since moving to L.A., Amy has established herself as one of the hottest up-and-coming comedians in the country. She was selected for both NBC‘s and CBS‘ Multicultural Comedy Showcases and created the first ever Asian American stand up showcase, Chop-SHTICK, at the Hollywood Improv. You can see Amy on Comedy Central, SiTV, Mun2, VH1, GSN and The Tom Joyner Show and on several national television commercials. Amy is also on Sirius‘ and XM‘s comedy channels and her website is: www.AmyAnderson.net

Emergency Building Coordinators (and CERT members) are invited to join other members for a 30-minute orientation and fun field activity to support emergency walkie-talkie use. Location: GHL 205

Security & Safety Director Ken Pacheco and his team will lead this walkie-talkie orientation and distribution activity. All EBCs are expected to attend this orientation.(CERT members are encouraged to attend to learn about the college…s emergency communications plans and equipment.)

Why walkie-talkies? In a major event such as an earthquake, landlines and cell phones are unlikely to function. That…s when the College…s Emergency Operations Plan calls for walkie-talkies to support campus communications. It…s part of the initiative to ‘Keep You Safe’ and one piece of the College…s focused effort to build sustainable emergency response procedures at Clark College.

Questions? Contact Ken Pacheco, 992-2413 regarding training; or Phil Sheehan, 992-2118, regarding equipment.

Hawaiian local icon and musical innovator, Brother Noland is our featured guest. His live

Man are getting rave reviews.

Brother Noland has shaped contemporary music in Hawaii with his innovative songwriting and a performance style. His back to basics approach on Hawaiian Man is truly a departure from the contemporary style he—s developed. His most critically acclaimed songs have launched new genres. …Coconut Girl‘ gave Noland the title, …Father of Jawaiian Music.‘ His performance and songwriting are an integral part of his creative journey.

…As far back as I can remember, I was always surrounded by the beautiful sounds of Hawaiian Music. You can play the songs over and over and each time it—s refreshing and new. These songs for me are 100% in the moment‘ said Brother Noland while reflecting on his new CD, Hawaiian Man.

As Brother Noland continues on his journey he continues to leave his mark as one of Hawaii—s musical icons and visionary leaders. He proudly carries with him the values of aloha through
his music and his life. Whether composing a song, plucking an ukulele, strumming a guitar or sharing the gift of aloha with those who may have lost their way, he does so as a Hawaiian in the Hawaiian way.
Brother Noland lives aloha and you can hear it in every note he plays.
