Middle and high school students and their parents are invited
to a special event at Clark College on Saturday, March 3
    

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Middle and high school students who like to use their imagination and create things that make a difference to society will want to know about a special event at Clark College on March 3. 

STEM icon“Science in Action” will feature hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) led Clark College professors.  The goal is to engage students who are interested in these classes and fields.  The event is sponsored by the Clark College N.E.R.D. (Not Even Remotely Dorky) Girls Club.

The event will be held at Clark College’s main campus on Saturday, March 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Clark College is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver.  Driving directions and parking maps are available at www.clark.edu/maps.

The event is free, but you must register by Feb. 25.  To register or for more information, write to nerdgirls.clark@gmail.com.

Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.  Parents are also encouraged to attend.

Following an opening session in Clark’s Gaiser Student Center, interactive activities will be held in Joan Stout Hall and Anna Pechanic Hall.

At 2 p.m., participants will return to the Gaiser Student Center to hear from keynote speaker Peg Bohan, a ranger for the U.S. Forest Service at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. Bohan, who has a degree in geology, has worked as a ranger for 10 years, serving at national parks including Yellowstone, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and the Grand Canyon, where she personally conducted a tour for President and Mrs. Obama.
