Career Days at Clark College:
the next step for your job search and for career advice
Clark College provides community members
with the tools and opportunities they need to
find jobs at a career fair held April 22-25
VANCOUVER, Wash. – Clark College’s Career Days is entering its third year bigger and better than ever, with more employers and new events that acknowledge the role of social media in the modern hunt for jobs. The four-day event will be held April 22-25 at the college’s main campus.
The annual event takes place over four days with seminars, skills sessions and events designed to assist students and community members in their job search efforts and prepare students in transferring to a bachelor’s degree. All events are free and open to the public.
On Monday and Tuesday, April 22 and 23, the seminars and skill-building sessions will help participants find resources for career planning, provide tools and strategies for an effective job search, and teach techniques to sharpen networking and interview skills. Topics range from writing an effective resume and tips about online applications, to job search strategies and how to get the most out of attending a job fair.
New this year to the lineup of sessions is "Leveraging LinkedIn,” a seminar presented by Julie Jenson, VP of Human Resources at Wacom Americas, on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. She will talk about how LinkedIn networking can be a valuable tool for finding the perfect job. To build on this, from noon to 2:00 p.m. on the following day, job-seekers will have the opportunity to have a free LinkedIn profile picture taken by a professional photographer.
Then on Wednesday, April 24, nearly 50 companies will participate in a Job Fair giving job-seekers an opportunity to connect one-on-one with local employers. Recruiters from a variety of industries will be on hand with job openings, career information and tips on applying for jobs with their companies.
On Thursday, April 25, the event culminates with the Career Days Transfer Fair, which connects current and prospective students with representatives from colleges and universities from across the Northwest to learn how to get the education they need to meet their career goals.
“Clark College takes great pride in its role as a key partner in the economic health of Southwest Washington,” said Clark College President Robert K. Knight. “Career Days gives all members of our community the opportunity to link up with potential employers from around the region. It also helps our students in their efforts to put their degrees to work as soon as they graduate.”
All events are free to students and members of the community. No registration is required. Clark College is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver. Driving directions and parking maps are available at www.clark.edu/maps.
