Q: What are the types of classes offered through eLearning?
A: We offer four main types of classes:
- Online: These courses are delivered via the Internet using Blackboard, an online interface that allows students to interact with faculty and classmates entirely at a distance.
- Hybrid: These courses are delivered with a combination of online interaction and regularly scheduled face-to-face classroom time.
- Telecourse: These courses use videos to deliver the majority of the course content.
- Teleweb: These courses use a combination of videos and online interaction to deliver course content and assignments.
Q: How do I know what type of class I am signing up for?
A: In both the printed and online quarterly schedule, the type of class is indicated in the course title.
Q: What are the technical requirements for using Blackboard?

Q: Where do I find a listing of eLearning courses being offered?
A: The eLearning listings are published along with the other classes offered by Clark College in both the printed and online quarterly schedule. In the printed schedule they are located under the department heading below the subtitle “eLearning Classes”.
Q: How do I register for an eLearning class?
A: Registration for eLearning classes is the same as any other class offered by Clark College. For more information, contact Registration at (360) 992-2183.
Q: When do eLearning classes start?
A: eLearning follows the same schedule as on campus classes. Consult the quarterly schedule for more information regarding start and end dates.
Q: Can I use financial aid for eLearning classes?
A: Financial aid can be used for eLearning classes by anyone who meets the standard requirements. For more information contact the Financial Aid office at (360) 992-2153 or visit the Financial Aid web site.

Q: I just registered for my first eLearning class, now what?
A: Go to the eLearning website and explore. Unless you are taking a telecourse, you will be using Blackboard and want to become familiar with it. There are tutorials on how to use Blackboard as well as information about how to determine your username and password.
Q: Does my class use Blackboard?
A: All eLearning classes EXCEPT telecourses use Blackboard.
Q: Where do I log into my class?
A: From the eLearning home page - www.clark.edu/eLearning simply select the 'Go to Class' link.
Q: I have an ECE class that uses WAOL. Where do I log in?
A: From the eLearning home page - www.clark.edu/eLearning simply select the 'WAOL - Login' link.
Q: How do I determine my username and password?
A: Follow the instructions below:
- Username: first initial + first four letters of your last name + last four numbers of your student ID (i.e. Jane Smith 940-12-3456 = jsmit3456)
- Password: last 5 numbers of your student ID (i.e. 23456)
WAOL:
- UserID: waol + student ID (i.e. Jane Smith 940-12-3456 = waol940123456)
- Password: First 5 letters of your last name (i.e. smith)
Q: When do I need to log in?
A: Log into class the first day of the term to avoid being dropped from the class.
Q: I’m registered but I can not log into Blackboard. What do I do?
A: There are a couple of different possibilities for why you can not log in:
- If you just registered for your course it takes one business day to be available to you to access.
- Check to make sure your Caps Lock button is not activated.
- Make sure you are using your student ID and not your Social Security number.
- If you are still experiencing problems contact eLearning at 1-877-748-2654 to have your password reset.

Q: When I log into Blackboard it says that I’m not currently enrolled in any classes. Why?
A: Classes may not be available until noon on the first day of the term.
Q: Do I need textbooks for my class?
A: Textbooks and any other course materials can be purchased in person or online at the Clark College Bookstore. Books are listed by department and item number.
Q: How do I acquire Proof of Attendance for Financial Aid?

Q: How do I use Blackboard?
A: See eLearning's Student Orientation Tutorials page.
Q: Does my class have an orientation?
A: If your class has an orientation it will be listed in the quarterly schedule.
Q: Do I have to log in every day?
A: The amount of class participation varies from class to class. Log into your class the first day of the quarter to receive your course instructions and participation requirements as set by the instructor.
