This course introduces the concept of service learning and its potential for inspiring civic engagement and community-based problem solving. Effective democratic citizenship demands awareness, knowledge, involvvement, problem solving and leadership.Through the development of a Community Action Project, we will explore all of these factors and their contributions to the development of democratic citizenship. [20 hour service-project requirement.]
