Physics Department students learn in small classes with modern equipment to earn Associate of Science (AS) degrees in one of two areas. An AS Track 1 (AST1) degree is designed for majors in biological sciences, chemistry, earth science, geology, environmental/resources sciences and pre-med, pharmacy and physical therapy students. AS Track 2 (AST2) is designed for majors in atmospheric science, meteorology, astronomy, computer science, engineering, physics, chemical and bioengineering, computer and electrical engineering and mechanical/civil/aeronautical/industrial/materials science engineering. The degrees are designed for students planning to transfer to a senior institution and pursue a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
*Note: Physical science, astronomy, meteorology and oceanography classes satisfy the natural sciences requirement for the AA General Transfer degree.
