ABOUT THE PROFESSIONThe dental hygienist is a licensed primary healthcare professional, oral health educator, and clinician who provides preventive, educational and therapeutic services supporting total health for the control of oral diseases and the promotion of oral health. Therapeutic services are clinical treatments designed to arrest or control disease and maintain oral tissues in health. Clark College graduates also receive expanded duties training and have the ability to administer local anesthetics, nitrous oxide sedation and perform some restorative treatment.CAREER BENEFITS Job Security The demand for dental hygienists is high, and job placement statistics upon graduation are excellent.
