Become a Volunteer Tutor

If you are interested in helping people learn; if you can read, write and speak English; and if you can commit a couple of hours a week for at least three months, you can help. Tutoring is an excellent way to make a difference in someone else’s life and in our community. It is also personally rewarding. Volunteer tutors:
  • Help individual students
  • Facilitate English conversation groups
  • Assist in Basic Education classes

Giving a student personal attention often motivates him or her in a way not possible in a classroom setting. Literacy tutors spend time building the student’s confidence to encourage a more positive self image and improve other aspects of the student’s life.

Make your commitment now! You’ll be glad you did.

If you are interested in becoming a Student Learning Center tutor, please call 360-992-2750 or complete our online application.
