Placing Materials on Reserve

Quick Links to Reserve Forms:

The reserve collection consists of:
  • materials considered essential or required reading for a course
  • materials that are used by various departmental programs
  • items in high demand by several patrons.
To place items on course reserve:
  • For journal articles or copied materials the "Course Documents" section of Blackboard course modules is now being used to store materials. Contact Reserves Technician, Wendy Clark x2553 , for assistance with uploading materials or to obtain persistent links to database articles (it is not necessary to print and scan articles from library databases).
  • For books and media that are personally owned or from the library’s collection: fill out the Cannell Library Electronic Course Reserve Form .
  • To place items on reserve at Cannell Library, send reserve materials with form(s) to Circulation, MS LIB 112, or bring them to the Check Out Desk. To place items on reserve at the i-Commons @ CTC, send items to i-Commons, MS 245, or bring them to the i-Commons, Room 219.
  • Print copies of forms are also available from the Service Desks at both libraries.
  • Contact Circulation Staff at ccl@clark.edu or call 992-2504 for more information.
Reserve Materials Policy:
  • Reserve materials are available for 3-hour, overnight, 3-day & 7-day checkout. If the instructor does not specify a loan period, 3-hour checkout will be used.
  • Instructors should supply a binder or folder for loose materials.
  • Generally, materials available electronically will not be placed in the print reserve collection.
  • Reserve materials will be returned at the end of the quarter they are placed in the library unless otherwise specified.
  • The library is not responsible for reserve materials that are damaged or lost.
  • Requests to install software on computers in the second floor computer lab must be sent to Computing Services.
  • The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of copies of copyrighted materials. Liability for copies placed on reserve rest with the faculty member. The library does not make back up copies of media reserves without prior request and approval of the media department. Faculty should contact a librarian for further information on copyright, or visit these links: Copyright Policy and Web Resources: Copyright
  • Patrons who use reserves are required to have a valid library card.
  • No reserves check-out 15 minutes prior to the library's closing.
