Off-Campus Access: Troubleshooting Tips

Students, faculty and staff of Clark College have off-campus access to licensed databases via a proxy server.
When acccessing licensed databases, you will be prompted to enter your name (your name in natural order: Elsie Baker) and your "Unique ID" (your Clark ID # - the one that starts with 940).

If you are denied acccess or receive error messages, work through this checklist:

1. Be certain that you are using your current Clark College ID number (the number that begins with 940 . . .) as your Unique ID. You can call the Cannell Library Check Out Desk to confirm that your name and Unique ID are in the system. (Check Out Desk: 360-992-2504)

2. Problems with the Gale Virtual Reference Library from off-campus: users should not have to login at all. If you see a login screen, you are in the wrong place. Some of the following “tricks” might work with your home system:

  • a. Disable security temporarily.
  • b. Delete cookies.
  • c. Delete temporary files.
  • d. Restart your browser.
  • e. Restart your computer.

3. Problems with the IT Pro Collection from off-campus: this is usually related to security or a personal firewall. Disable your security temporarily.
