- ADA Accessible / Vis-U-Tec Reader (2nd Floor)
- The resources and services of the Lewis D. Cannell Library are fully accessible according to current ADA Standards. At Cannell Library a Vis-U-Tek reader is available for individuals with vision enhancement needs. JAWS software is available in the 2nd floor computer lab. At the i-Commons @ CTC JAWS is installed on all the student PCs.

- Beginning January 5, 2010, Ask a Librarian email and chat is available 24/7.
Class Reserves
- Materials placed on reserve by instructors are available at the Cannell Library Check Out Desk and the Service Desk at the i-Commons @ CTC. Many reserves are limited to two-hour library use only. At CTC reserves may be taken from the i-Commons to the photocopier room (218). Some can be checked out overnight or for three days. Reserves cannot be renewed or have holds placed on them.

Electronic Reserves (E-Res)
- An electronic reserve system enables faculty to provide online access to course materials such as syllabi, lecture notes, and sample exams. Students may access materials 24/7 via e-Reserves on BlackBoard, following instructions provided by the instructor.

Computer Access
- At Cannell Library computers are available on the first floor open area and 2nd Floor and the Computing Services lab (Room 205). At the i-Commons @ CTC computers are available in the open area (CTC 219) and in the Computing Services lab (CTC 203). Students must use their student ID number and password to log on to PCs. At Cannell Library Guest log-in may be available, subject to limitations, on the first floor open area only. Guest log-in is not available at te i-Commons.
Copy Machines
- Copies can be made at a cost of five cents each. Copiers accept $1 and $5 bills. At Cannell Library the copy machine is located next to the first-floor restrooms. At the i-Commons the copy machine in located in room 218.
Group Study Rooms
- At Cannell Library small group study space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Groups of three or more persons have priority use. The Large Group Study Room #204 and Study Room #212 may be reserved for 3 or more people. At the i-Commons @ CTC two study rooms are available, first-come, first-served, or by signing up in advance.
Interlibrary Loan
- Interlibrary Loan service is for curriculum-related needs of Clark College students, faculty and staff. Requests must be submitted on a form available online through the library's
web page (online form or paper form - pdf). Paper forms are also available at the Check Out or Reference Desks.
Note: Use Summit for most book requests. The Summit catalog allows patrons to submit requests on-screen; items are delivered in 2-3 working days. For more information see Summit.
The Clark College library complies with interlibrary loan copyright law guidelines.
Community patrons should use the interlibrary loan services of the public libraries.
Laptops / Calculators (1st Floor, Check Out Desk)
- Both Cannell Library and the i-Commons @ CTC have laptop computers for students to checkout
and use for three hours at a time. Students are asked
to sign a Use Agreement and abide by the Library
Laptop Policy. Calculators may also be checked out for short-term use. At Cannell Library laptops must stay in the building; at CTC laptops may be used anywhere in the CTC building.
Library Collections
- Library materials include the following:
- Books. Use the online catalog to locate books. Circulating books are located on the second floor and shelved by the Library of Congress Classification System. The library also subscribes to a number of e-books, which are available electronically through the online catalog. See How Do I Find Books? for more information.
- Periodicals (journals, newspapers, magazines). Print periodicals are shelved in the lower section of the first floor, along the south windows. Journals and magazines are arranged alphabetically by title, then chronologically by date. Newspapers are shelved at the end of the Periodical stacks. Back issues of some titles are found on microfilm. The library also provides access to a collection of electronic periodicals through the periodicals databases. - Reference Books. Housed on the first floor,
this collection includes atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias,
handbooks, and bibliographies for many subject areas. Online
and print indexes provide access to periodical articles. See

- Renaissance Kids is a special collection of books at Cannell Library to check out and share with children. This collection is located in the Popular Periodicals area of the first floor.

Library Instruction Classroom
- The Library Instruction Lab at Cannell Library (Room 103), and the Computer Classroom @ CTC (Room 207) are Smarts classrooms designed for group instruction. At Cannell Library faculty may arrange library instruction sessions with the Reference / Instruction Librarians. To schedule classes at Cannell Library please contact Joan Carey, Roxanne Dimyan, Zachary Grant, or Lori Wamsley. For classes at CTC contact Kitty Mackey. At CTC instructors may either book the Computer lab (CTC 207) through Joanne Savage, or host an instruction session in his/her classroom. Please see Library

Microfilm Equipment
- At Cannell Library, a microform reader is located outside Room 103. Self-service copies are 10 cents per page. .
Off-campus Access to Resources
- Cannell Librarysubscribes to many electronic databases and indexes that support the curriculum. For students, faculty and staff: When accessing databases from off campus you will be prompted to enter your name and "Unique ID":
--> The name is just your name, in natural order: Elsie Baker
--> The "Unique ID" is your Clark College ID number -- the nine-digit number that starts with 940.

Quiet Study Room (Cannell Library, Room 217)
- At Cannell Library, Room 217 is available for individual quiet study. Quiet study areas are available throughout CTC.
Reference Service
- The Reference Desk is located on the first floor at Cannell Library, and in the i-Commons @ CTC. Librarians are available to assist students,
faculty and staff with their research needs. The philosophy of reference service is based on empowering students
through instruction. Reference librarians are also available to meet with classes.
Research Computers
- At both Cannell Library and the i-Commons @ CTC, workstations with Internet access are available to Clark College students for research purposes.
Summit (Orbis-Cascade Alliance)
- Cannell Library is a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, a consortium of more than 35 libraries in the Pacific Northwest. Orbis Cascade provides access to the Summit catalog, from which library patrons can have materials delivered in 2-4 days. Learn more about Summit.
Video Booking / Scheduling
