- ADA Accessible / Vis-U-Tec Reader
- The resources and services of the Lewis D. Cannell Library are fully accessible according to current ADA Standards. On the second floor, a Vis-U-Tek reader is available for individuals with vision enhancement needs. JAWS software is available in the 2nd floor computer lab (LibLab)
Audiotape Duplication
- Self-service-duplication is available. This service is only for course-related tapes supplied by instructors and housed in the library. Copyright restrictions apply and blank tapes must be supplied by library patron.
Class Reserves
- The reserve collection consists of materials considered essential
or required reading for a course, materials that are used by
various departmental programs, or items in high demand by several
patrons. Electronic reserves may be accessed 24/7 via the library
web page with a password provided by the class instructor.
Students: Reserve materials are available at the Check-Out Desk. Use the book catalog to get the call numbers.

Copy Machines
- Located on the first floor, copies are available at a cost of five cents per copy. The copy machines take coins and bills.
Group Study
- Small group study rooms are available on the second floor; groups of three or more have priority use. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Rooms 204 and the Sun Room are available for larger groups and may be booked. See the Administrative Assistant in Room 109 (992-2329) to book rooms. White board markers and erasers are available at the Check-Out Desk.
Interlibrary Loan
- Interlibrary Loan service is provided to meet the research needs of the Clark College faculty, staff and students. Requests for materials to be borrowed from other libraries may be submitted via the online Interlibrary Loan form or on a paper form (pdf). Return paper forms to the Check Out Desk or Reference Desk. Note: Use Summit for most book requests. The Summit catalog allows patrons to submit requests on-screen; items are delivered in 2-3 working days. For more information see Summit.
The Clark College library complies with interlibrary loan copyright law guidelines.
Community patrons are encouraged to use the interlibrary loan services of the public libraries.
Laptops
- Cannell Library has laptop computers for students to checkout
and use in the library for two hours at a time. Students are asked
to sign a Use Agreement and abide by the Library
Laptop Policy.
Library Collections
- Library materials include the following:
- Books. Use the online catalog to locate books. Circulating books are located on the second floor and shelved by the Library of Congress Classification System. The library also subscribes to a number of e-books, which are available electronically through the online catalog. See How Do I Find Books? for more information.
- Periodicals (journals, newspapers, magazines). Print periodicals are shelved in the lower section of the first floor, along the west windows. Journals and magazines are arranged alphabetically by title, then chronologically by date. Newspapers are shelved at the end of the Periodical stacks. Back issues of some titles are found on microfilm. The library also provides access to a collection of electronic periodicals through the periodicals dadtabases. - Reference Books. Housed on the first floor,
this collection includes atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias,
handbooks, and bibliographies for many subject areas. Online
and print indexes provide access to periodical articles. See
a librarian on the first floor for help with research assignments

- Renaissance Kids is a special collection of books at Cannell Library to check out and share with children. This collection is located in the popular periodicals are of the first floor.

- LibLab (Computer Lab)
- PC workstations are available in the second floor lab for currently registered students. Students must use their student ID number and pin number to use the lab, managed by Computing Services.
Library Instruction
- The Library Instruction Lab, located on the first floor, is
an electronic classroom designed for group instruction by library
faculty for specific classes. Faculty: Reference
librarians are available to meet with classes to help students
learn how to use library resources. Please contact Joan

Morasch or Zachary Grant to

Microfilm/Microfiche Readers/Printers
- Equipment for viewing and printing from microfilm and microfiche is located on the first floor, near room 103. Self-service copies are available at a cost of 10 cents per page. Some reader/printers will accept dimes and nickels only; one reader/printer will make change.
Off-campus Access to Resources
- Cannell Library maintains subscriptions to a number of electronic databases and indexes that support the curriculum. For faculty, staff and students: When accessing databases from off campus you will be prompted to enter your name and "Unique ID":
--> The name is just your name, in natural order: Elsie Baker
--> The "Unique ID" is your college ID number -- the nine-digit number that starts with 940.

- Portals Consortium
- Cannell Library is a member of PORTALS, The Portland Area Library System, which provides students access to academic libraries in the Portland area. Learn more about PORTALS.
Reference Service
- The Reference Desk is locate on the first floor. Librarians are available to assist students students,
staff and faculty their research needs. The philosophy of the reference is based on empowering students
through instruction. Reference librarians are also available to meet with classes.
- Research Computers
- Located in the open area of the first floor, PC workstations with Internet access are available to Clark College students for research purposes. Reference Librarians are available to assist users with electronic resources.
Summit (Orbis-Cascade Alliance)
- Cannell Library is a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, a consortium of more than 33 libraries in the Pacific Northwest. Orbis Cascade provides access to the Summit catalog, from which library patrons can have materials delivered in 2-3 days. Learn more about Summit.
Video Booking / Scheduling
