- ADA Accessible / Vis-U-Tec Reader (2nd Floor)
- The resources and services of the Lewis D. Cannell Library are fully accessible according to current ADA Standards. A Vis-U-Tek reader is available for individuals with vision enhancement needs. JAWS software is available in the 2nd floor computer lab.
Ask A Librarian Instant Messaging
- During certain hours, you can get help from reference librarians via Ask a Libraian online forms and instant messaging service available on the web page.
Class Reserves (1st Floor, Check Out Desk)
- Materials placed on reserve by instructors are available at the Check Out Desk. Many reserves are limited to two-hour library use only. Some can be checked out overnight or for three days. Reserves cannot be renewed or have holds placed on them.

Electronic Reserves (E-Res)
- An electronic reserve system enables faculty to provide online access to course materials such as syllabi, lecture notes, and sample exams. Students may access materials 24/7 via the library's web page with a password provided by their instructor. Some E-Res pages are also accessible through the Blackboard portal.

Computer Lab (2nd Floor, Room 205)
- Workstations are available in the computer lab for currently registered students. Students must use their student ID number and password to use the lab, managed by Computing Services.
Copy Machines (1st Floor)
- Copies can be made at a cost of five cents each. Copiers accept $1 and $5 bills.
Group Study Rooms (2nd Floor)
- Small group study space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Groups of three or more persons have priority use. The Large Group Study Room #204 and Study Room #212 may be reserved for 3 or more people.
Interlibrary Loan
- Interlibrary Loan service is for curriculum-related needs of Clark College students, faculty and staff. Requests must be submitted on a form available online through the library's
web page (online form or paper form - pdf). Paper forms are also available at the Check Out or Reference Desks.
Note: Use Summit for most book requests. The Summit catalog allows patrons to submit requests on-screen; items are delivered in 2-3 working days. For more information see Summit.
The Clark College library complies with interlibrary loan copyright law guidelines.
Community patrons should use the interlibrary loan services of the public libraries.
Laptops / Calculators (1st Floor, Check Out Desk)
- Cannell Library has laptop computers for students to checkout
and use in the library for three hours at a time. Students are asked
to sign a Use Agreement and abide by the Library
Laptop Policy. Calculators may also be checked out for short-term use.
Library Collections
- Library materials include the following:
- Books. Use the online catalog to locate books. Circulating books are located on the second floor and shelved by the Library of Congress Classification System. The library also subscribes to a number of e-books, which are available electronically through the online catalog. See How Do I Find Books? for more information.
- Periodicals (journals, newspapers, magazines). Print periodicals are shelved in the lower section of the first floor, along the south windows. Journals and magazines are arranged alphabetically by title, then chronologically by date. Newspapers are shelved at the end of the Periodical stacks. Back issues of some titles are found on microfilm. The library also provides access to a collection of electronic periodicals through the periodicals dadtabases. - Reference Books. Housed on the first floor,
this collection includes atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias,
handbooks, and bibliographies for many subject areas. Online
and print indexes provide access to periodical articles. See

- Renaissance Kids is a special collection of books at Cannell Library to check out and share with children. This collection is located in the Popular Periodicals area of the first floor.

Microfilm Equipment (1st Floor, near Room 103)
- Self-service copies are available at a cost of 10 cents per page.
Off-campus Access to Resources
- Cannell Library maintains subscriptions to a number of electronic databases and indexes that support the curriculum. For students, faculty and staff: When accessing databases from off campus you will be prompted to enter your name and "Unique ID":
--> The name is just your name, in natural order: Elsie Baker
--> The "Unique ID" is your Clark College ID number -- the nine-digit number that starts with 940.

Quiet Study Room (2nd Floor, Room 217)
- Study space is available for individual quiet study.
Reference Service (1st Floor)
- The Reference Desk is located on the first floor. Librarians are available to assist students,
faculty and staff with their research needs. The philosophy of reference service is based on empowering students
through instruction. Reference librarians are also available to meet with classes.
Research Computers (1st Floor, Open Area)
- Workstations with Internet access are available to Clark College students for research purposes.
Summit (Orbis-Cascade Alliance)
- Cannell Library is a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, a consortium of more than 35 libraries in the Pacific Northwest. Orbis Cascade provides access to the Summit catalog, from which library patrons can have materials delivered in 2-3 days. Learn more about Summit.
Video Booking / Scheduling
