Archiving your Blackboard Course
At the end of each quarter, it is very important to create an archival copy of your course(s). This protects your work, which is kept on Blackboard servers and can be a difficult and lengthy process for them to extract. Therefore, we strongly advise you to create an exact copy of your course, through a simple process called archiving. An archival copy includes the content, tools, enrollments, and student work and grades, which you can download and save locally in the event of grade challenges or incomplete issues. Here is how to do it:
Step 1. Login to Blackboard.

Step 2. Click open the course you want to archive.

Step 3. Click open the Control Panel.

Step 4. Click on Archive Course.

Step 5. Click on Archive.

Step 6. Verify Course ID and click Submit.

Step 7. Click OK when you see the following screen. Have some coffee... it may take a minute or more, depending on the course size, to create the archive file package.

Step 8. A "zipped" file containing your archived course is now ready to be saved to your computer. You may need to refresh your view of this page to see the new package. Right-click on the link and chose the "Save Target As" option.

Step 9. Save the zip file to a preferred location on your computer.

Step 10. Once you have saved the archive in a safe and memorable place, please use the "Remove" button to remove the package and free up space on the server. It will only remove the archive package, not your course. Repeat these steps as necessary for each course.

You will need to contact the Blackboard System Administrator to "Restore" a course from your archive. If you have questions about the Archive/Restore process, please contact the eLearning Department at elearning@clark.edu or call 360-992-2654 or 1-877-748-2654.
